Dios sea Alabado. Que alegria saber que somos hijos de Dios. Pero veo claramente que el primer amor se ha alejado. El mercantilismo cristiano se ha tomado la mayoria de las congregaciones, cuando llega “aquel Jhon Jr.” como llegó al portaviones del nombre de su padre, fue reconocido inmediatamente, etc. Hoy por hoy ese mercantilismo que mancha la Iglesia de Cristo, está siendo victima del amor al dinero, y sus planes antes de llevar el mensaje de Dios, que entre otros, es el de crecer el radio de accion del mensaje de Cristo, se han dedicado a programas de conseguir dinero y desconocer a “esos John Jrs” que podemos llegar a cualquier congregación, lo primero que ven es si sirves para dar dinero mas no, en que puedes trabajar para la obra, mas aún, desconocen de la herencia que tenemos, ese Valor tan incomparable que es el ser coherederos con Cristo. OREMOS PARA QUE EL MERCANTILISMO Y EL VICIO DEL AMOR AL DINERO, DISFRAZADO DE CRISTIANISMO, SE TRANSFORME EN AMOR VERDADERO, EN ESE PRIMER AMOR QUE HABLA LA PALABRA DE DIOS. I'm Different

Four years ago, Michael Tristanis, his wife Jeanette, and their twin girls, were tired of the crime, traffic, hurricanes, and cost of living in Miami. They wanted to do something about it. Then, the Tristianis’ saw an ad from the Hazelton Development Corporation, in Hazelton, North Dakota. Michael said the ad was an answer to prayer.

The corporation was developed by a group of concerned citizens in Hazelton, ND, who wanted to save their town from extinction. The dwindling town of 240 people was offering families up to two free lots and up to $20,000 towards home purchases. They were also offering free lots and up to $50,000 for businesses who located in the small town.

Michael and his family decided to give it a try. They packed up their belongings and took Hazelton up on their offers. They obtained the two free lots and bought a third. They purchased a house, built by students in Bismarck, which is about 45 miles away, and had it moved to their newly acquired land. They opened a bistro and coffee shop, and settled into their new life in North Dakota.

The pleasantness of having no crime and plenty of elbow room, soon faded as they realized how little they had in common with the rest of the folks in Hazelton. In an area where pick-up trucks are the vehicle of choice, and flannel shirts go with everything, the Tristianis’ didn’t quite fit the mold. When they rode into town, they were driving their Lexus. They wore fashionable clothes, gold chains and Rolexes. Michael said, “They thought I was a drug dealer.”

The bistro business failed. Michael began buying houses in Bismarck to repair and resell. Jeanette went to work for a calling center in the nearby town of Linton, but lost that job when the center went out of business. They have decided that they simply do not fit in this small town, and some of the locals agree. One local was quoted as saying, “Not everyone fits in a small town.” The Tristianis’ have given up on small town life and are trying to move back to Florida.

This story made me think of how silly we are, as Christians, to think we can blend in with the world and be effective for the Kingdom of God. Sometimes, we take great pains to make ourselves appear to be like the world. However, those who are not Christian, can sense that there is something different about us. They may not be able to identify it, but they know that we are not like them. To them, we are no different than Michael Tristianis showing up in Hazelton, ND, with gold chains and a Lexus. We stand out whether we want to or not.

A bank, from the upstate of South Carolina, had one of the most successful ad campaigns in recent history. American Federal Bank ran commercials that contained the Randy Newman song, “I’m Different.” Their mascot was a black sheep named Scooter, who usually wore roller skates. The whole idea was that they weren’t like other banks. The lyrics to the song were changed a bit from the original, but the message was in tact. “I’m different, I don’t care who knows it. Something about me’s not the same. I’m different, and that’s how it goes. Ain’t gonna play no white sheep games.” (Any of you who remember those commercials will now have that song in your head for the rest of the week. You’re welcome!)

Jesus said in John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” That means that no matter how we try, if we are called out by Jesus Christ to follow Him, we will never be accepted by the world.

So, what do we do about it? Do we just grin and bear the fact that we’re different? Yes. The world needs us to be different. The world needs for us not to compromise. The world needs desperately to see people who will stand for their beliefs and boldly lift up the name of Jesus Christ.

Are you willing to be a “black sheep” for Jesus Christ, in this world of compromise?


Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." (1 Peter 1:13-16 NIV)



Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

Aplicación diaria:

Podemos caer en el error de creer que la sabiduría una vez que es recibida ya queda posesionada en nuestra vida de forma perenne e inmutable, hasta la muerte.

Mucho cuidado; ella cual niño recién nacido, cual jardín frondoso, requiere de su atención permanente, de alimento diario con la Palabra, de ser iluminada con la luz de Dios, para crecer en forma constante, firme y abundantemente.

No hay nada más peligroso que una persona que cree tener sabiduría, cuando lo que en realidad lo que tiene es vanagloria y de ella solo se recibe atropello, engaño y falsedad. La Palabra de Dios nos enseña “No seas sabio en tu propia prudencia” ( entendimiento).

¡Sigamos el ejemplo de Jesús, siendo niño crecía en sabiduría y fue acepto delante su Padre y los demás!

La sabiduría de un Pastor

JEREMIAS 23: 1-8

Aplicación diaria:

En todos y cada uno de nosotros de los creyentes existe en su interior un pastor o a quién se le ha encomendado el cuidado de un rebaño ¿Cuál es el suyo?

Quizá es su familia, sus hijos, sus amigos ó alguien necesitado del conocimiento de Dios, ante los cuales se tiene la responsabilidad de cuidarlos, protegerlos y llevarlos por el camino seguro. El no hacerlo significa que le hemos fallado a Dios en el liderazgo que nos ha dado y ser responsables que el rebaño se disperse, si eso ocurre.

Para ser un buen pastor de su rebaño y aún de su propia vida, hay que acudir a la fuente de la Sabiduría: ¡Jesús el vástago profetizado y escogido!

Continúa la larga lista del contraste entre el necio y el sabio:

De los labios del necio no puede sino salir sandeces, su lengua insidiosa y agresiva hecha leña al fuego, hace ruborizar con sus barbaridades a sus oyentes sofocando sus espíritus, no acepta la corrección de nadie, es insolente, menosprecia a su madre, esposa e hijos y se burla de los débiles y de Dios.

En cambio de la boca del sabio solo saldrá amable calma, su lengua destila conocimiento, da consuelo, anima y alegra con sus palabras a quien le escucha, acepta prudentemente la corrección, su rostro refleja su corazón alegre, busca el bienestar de los suyos y de los más necesitados. Su mirada está siempre dirigida a Dios

¡Oh Dios! ¡Permite que mi mente, corazón y boca, sean llenos de tu sabiduría!

SABIDURIA Ó NECEDAD

Proverbios 14

Aplicación diaria:

En este capítulo de Proverbios nuevamente se presenta un contraste, esta vez entre la sabiduría y la necedad.

El Salmo 111: 10 nos dice que «el principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Dios; ejercitarse en él es de hombres sensatos». Esto no es el tener miedo a Dios, porque en Dios no existe maldad, él es Bueno; el temor de Dios consiste en estar dispuesto a escucharle y obedecerle. Sólo pueden tener miedo a Dios los que no le conocen y se alejan de Él, por las consecuencias que esto trae consigo.

El principio de la necedad es éste: «Dice el necio para sí: -¡Dios no existe!-».

Uno puede llegar a no entender muchas cosas y a veces ser más lento para comprenderlas que los demás, pero lo que no es perdonable es ser necio. Quien vive sin Dios lo notará él y lo observarán los que están a su alrededor porque sufre y hace sufrir a los demás. Quien anda sin Dios se vuelve tirano, para sí mismo y para los demás, porque sólo busca su interés. Gran parte del sufrimiento humano es una manifestación de la separación Dios que el hombre ejerce con su necedad.

Amigo, ¿cual de estos dos principios gobierna tu vida? ¡Al leer hoy este texto bíblico de Proverbios, Dios nos confronta a evaluar si realmente andamos en sabiduría o lo estamos haciendo en necedad!

TEMA DEL MES : LA PALABRA DE DIOS Y LA SABIDURIA

EL PUEBLO DE DIOS ES SABIO

Deuteronomio 4: 1- 9

VERSICULO CLAVE:

Guardadlos, pues, y ponedlos por obra; porque esta es vuestra sabiduría y vuestra inteligencia ante los ojos de los pueblos, los cuales oirán todos estos estatutos, y dirán: Ciertamente pueblo sabio y entendido, nación grande es esta.

(Reina-Valera 1960)


Aplicación diaria:

Como iglesia somos un pueblo sabio porque así lo declara la palabra de Dios, pero parte de esa sabiduría precisamente consiste en asumir una actitud humilde con los demás y no estar menospreciando a los que no piensan igual a nosotros que también son seres hechos a imagen de Dios y muy amados por él.

Lo que sí es imperdonable para nosotros como pueblo sabio es el no obedecer las leyes de ese Dios que le plació escogernos; el escritor de Deuteronomio afirma que la prueba de que realmente somos un pueblo sabio consiste en vivir de acuerdo con los estatutos y ordenanzas que nuestro Dios ha establecido. Nuestra oración a Dios cada día debe ser que él nos ayude a ser mas obedientes para que de esa manera el nombre de Dios sea glorificado.
